On July 8th, at 7:30 pm, St. Paul’s is hosting a wonderfully unique concert of classical music performed by the internationally renowned musicians Joseph Petric on accordion, and Michael Schulte (violoncello piccolo da spalla and violin). They will perform works by Bach, CPE Bach, and Bela Bartok.
Accordionist Joseph Petric’s performances have been acclaimed as “sheer brilliance” (LA Times) possessing an “astonishing bravura” (London Musical Opinion) and he’s appeared at the music festivals in Huddersfield, Tanglewood, Tokyo Spring and Wigmore Hall. His solo concerto appearances include the Toronto Symphony, the Vancouver Symphony, the BBC Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, and the CBC Vancouver Orchestra.
Music critic Hugh Fraser of The Hamilton Spectator referred to Michael Schulte as “The most elegant violinist around.” He is the only Canadian musician to play the violoncello piccolo da spalla professionally. Michael has performed and recorded with many famous groups such as the Fine Arts Quartet, the American String Quartet, the Miro Quartet, the Lafayette Quartet, the New Orford Quartet, and the Parker Quartet. Michael has been Artistic Director of Chamber Music Hamilton for over twelve years.
