World renowned jazz guitarist Lorne Lofsky, with pianist Adrean Farrugia, will perform a concert at the acoustically wonderful St. Paul’s Anglican Church at 227 Church Street in Newmarket, with all proceeds from the show going to help fund the new shelter building project for the “Inn From The Cold” program in Newmarket.
Lorne Lofsky is a Master guitarist, and one of Canada’s great musical treasures – having toured and recorded for several years with the great Canadian pianist Oscar Peterson. He has also worked and recorded with Chet Baker, Ed Bickert, Dizzy Gillespie, Pat LaBarbera, Joey DeFrancesco, Dave Holland, and Rosemary Clooney (amongst others). He will soon be returning from a European Tour as a co-lead of the “Canadian Jazz Collective” – a seven-piece jazz ensemble – with Kirk MacDonald and Derrick Gardner.
Lorne is a world-class guitarist, but also sought after as an educator, and currently teaches at York University and Humber College, and has lectured and held master-classes at a number of high-end University and Specialty Arts Institutions across the country and around the world, as well as immersive music programs for very gifted youth.
Adrean Farrugia is one of the country’s most sought-after pianists and composers. He has won two, and been nominated for eight, Juno awards, and has performed with such great artists as Matt Dusk, Molly Johnson, Jane Siberry, Ernie Watts, Brad Goode, and Ernesto Cervini. He’s played on over forty albums, and won the “Pianist of the Year” from the Hamilton Arts Awards.
Adrean serves on the faculties of the University of Toronto, Mohawk College, and Humber College, has conducted master-classes here and at the University of Colorado, the Sydney Conservatorium, the Polish Jazz Society Summer Workshop, and the Interprovincial and National Music Camps.
There will be a cash wine/beer bar at this event.
