St. Paul’s and Other Churches along with Habitat to Build in Newmarket

Habitat for Humanity helps low-income families build and buy simple, decent quality affordable homes through a no-interest mortgage with payments set at less than 30 percent of gross income. This solution not only helps to provide available housing for families in need, it enables low-income families to build assets, reduce their dependence on other forms of social assistance and break the cycle of poverty.

St. Paul’s Anglican will be hosting an Open House on April 18th to kick off participation in a new Habitat for Humanity Build journey. Stay tuned for more information and the participating churches as we walk this path with Habitat! This project is a unique way of becoming more involved in your community by helping others. We take our lead from the Anglican Diocese of Toronto who has provided a cash donation of $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity in the GTA to help build 15 affordable housing units.

Churches in Newmarket have joined forces to undertake this initiative that will be accomplished easily as a unified group. The local churches have come close to reaching their $100,000 goal which will go toward building a Habitat for Humanity home on Andrew Street in Newmarket. Construction on this home will begin in September 2015. This year, Habitat for Humanity GTA, York Region will also build homes in Holland Landing and Stouffville. For more information, please contact Habitat for Humanity GTA at 905-868-8722 or Steve.Klassen@habitatgta.ca.

St Paul’s is engaged in the Newmarket Build journey as we offer hope to a family. If you can paint, drywall, or hammer, we need you! Come out and help. If you can’t do any of that, you can still come and learn! This would be a great family project! We are encouraging everyone to get involved and help us to help others! Drop us a line if you’d like more information. And like us on Facebook to be kept informed of the build journey.
