Temporary Opportunity

This position is being advertised under the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) initiative. To be eligible for this position, you must be between 15 and 30 years of age on the start date of the job; have been a full-time student during the 2016 – 2017 academic year and be intending to return to full-time studies in the 2017 – 2018 academic year; be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and be legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations.

Education/Requirements – You must be enrolled in full-time studies at a recognized Canadian University or College and returning to studies in the next school year. The preferred field of study is in the area of sociology, with a focus on children, youth, disabled and the marginalized groups of society.

The student will support existing services for the developmentally handicapped; plan and design a children’s program; assist with programs for the elderly; participate in administrative and secretarial duties.

The student will be directly under the supervision of a church leader, but will also work with the coordinators of programs for the disabled, elderly and children. The student will need to work effectively as a team member. Training will be provided.

The student must be willing to undergo a police records check and a first aid and defibrillator training course. The student will need to familiarize him/herself with our health and safety, sexual misconduct and privacy and confidentiality policies.
